Mrs. Kacey Davenport moved to Tuscaloosa from the coast of North Carolina in 2012 and has been The Capitol School's librarian since January 2013. She is a former 4th and 5th grade teacher and has taught children for over 15 years, including experience at a Montessori school in Durham, North Carolina. Mrs. Davenport studied French language and culture in Angers, France. She also spent a semester in Oulu, Finland and traveled to over 10 European countries including Russia and Estonia. She graduated with a Master of Library Science degree from North Carolina Central University, a Master of Teaching degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from UNCGreensboro. She is also a practicing postpartum doula, supporting new mothers and their newborns. Mrs. Davenport is married and has a son who is a student at The Capitol School, and she feels privileged to have the opportunity to work with the entire student and teacher population in her role.
