Japanese Club
Capitol School middle school and high school students can participate each 9 weeks in Japanese Club held on Thursday afternoons from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. The Club is led by a native speaker, Tsuge Kaori, a student at The University of Alabama. Ms. Kaori was born in Saitama next to Tokyo and attends Dokkyo University in Japan. She came to Tuscaloosa as an exchange student. She is a senior at The University of Alabama majoring in English, and linguistics at her home university. Each week, she teaches the students new Japanese vocabulary as well as facts and customs of the Japanese people. Sometimes, she brings recipes for the students to prepare traditional foods. After learning about Japanese drumming, some of the club members have joined a group of drummers at UofA for practice each Tuesday and Thursday nights. The Japanese Club is in its third year and is a very popular club. The cost is $50 per nine-week session. If your child is interested in joining, please contact the club sponsor: Tsuge Kaori (eMail)
