Session 1 PM: Fun with Puppets

Description: The students will create a variety of puppets and shows. Children will use a variety of puppets for production of several puppet shows by using original puppets and puppets from an extensive collection of pre-made and professionally made puppets. Puppet show production will include writing, scripting, stage crafting, props, green screen, film, and possible posting with YouTube Kids. They will explore Alabama's Bicentennial history with puppets, create their own puppets to Aesop’s Fables and popular fairytales, create a famous Alabama musician puppet and make a puppet that will help teach a cooking show! Come join the excitement and fun! Get ready to create!
Teacher Bio: Mrs. Missy Richey is a Technology Teacher at The Capitol School. She has 28 years of teaching experience in preschool, kindergarten, first grade and fourth grade in Alabama and Tennessee school systems. She also has worked as a teacher and coordinator with Florence City Schools' Homebound k-12 student program for several years. She has created and directed science and social studies children's workshops throughout North Alabama for over twenty-five years. At The University of Alabama, she worked with The Child Development Center and taught classes in children's literature, methods of teaching science, social studies and human development. Mrs. Richey studied at Bishop Grosseteste College in Lincoln, England and High Wych JMI School in Sawbridgeworth, England. Mrs. Richey earned a M.S. and Educational Specialist degree in Early Childhood Education from The University of Alabama and holds a AA level teaching certificate in Alabama and Tennessee.
