Description: How do Science, Math and K'Nex connect? Join this exploratory session and design some amazing projects with K'Nex construction systems that incorporate STEM concepts (Science, Technology, and Math). Students will work individually and in small groups to build structures and simple machines. We will look at angles, measurements, design and simple machine elements as we create 3-D models.
Teacher Bio: Mrs. Shelli Lavender is a veteran teacher and reading specialist fully credentialed in both Alabama and Ohio. She has taught in Ohio and Alabama. Having taught at Capitol School since 2012, Mrs. Lavender is Lead Teacher for 9 - 11 year-olds during the school year. Summer Explorations is one of her favorite parts of teaching for the Capitol School. When Mrs. Lavender is not at school, you may find her helping on the family farm. She loves to read, hike, and fish when there is time! She has a son in college and husband at home as well.
