Description: Challenge your child’s brain to learn a new language this summer! As we learn about Helen Keller’s life, we will try many different experiences as a deaf and blind student. As we dive into learning a new language, we will master the basic ASL signs and the ASL Alphabet. By the end of the session, we will be communicating basic sentences with each other. We will use songs, videos and books to help learn ASL!
Teacher Bio: Mrs. Courtney Sanders is a teacher for the five-seven year old cluster at The Capitol School. Mrs. Sanders is a native of Tuscaloosa and attended Tuscaloosa City Schools. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is currently pursuing her Masters of Elementary Education at the University of West Alabama. She has taught preschool and also first grade in the Shelby County School District. Mrs. Sanders’ goal is to provide a child-centered environment where every child can succeed.
