Session 5 AM: Be a Paleontologist
Session 5 AM: July 22 - August 2

Teacher: Mrs. Lauren Amundson, B.S., M.S.
Description: Come learn how to be a Paleontologist while exploring the wild world of prehistoric life. We will be emerged in many actives while using tangible materials to help us learn. I will share some of my own personal fossils from my collection as we learn about the various characteristics of fossils, how they are created, and what they can teach us. We will excavate while learning about the tools a paleontologist uses, create our own fossils, and become involved with many other fun activities. Come join in on the fun!
Teacher Bio: Mrs. Lauren White Amundson is a Tuscaloosa native. She graduated from the University of Alabama in May of 2013 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She started her Capitol School journey in January of 2014 in the preschool working as a Montessori preschool aide. She is currently the co-teacher for the 5-7 year olds. She fell in love with the teaching strategies, environment, and manipulatives in the K/1st grade/age classroom. She fell in love with being in the classroom. This influenced her decision in taking the next step to compete her Masters of Education at the University of West Alabama, to add to her Alabama Elementary Education certification. She is looking forward to working with the students and their families this summer.
