Dr. Gerardo Ruz is the Spanish Teacher for the Elementary and Upper School groups at The Capitol School. He is a native of Merida, Venezuela who moved to Tuscaloosa in 2018 to complete his PhD at The University of Alabama in Hispanic Studies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Language Teaching from Universidad de Los Andes in Venezuela and a Master’s degree in Hispanic Literature and Curriculum Instruction from Mississippi State University. Mr. Ruz is very passionate and committed to language teaching that he has been the recipient of several awards for outstanding teaching.
