Session 1 2021 2/3 AM: Become a Paleontologist!
Session 1 AM: June 1-11
Age / grade level: 2/3
Teacher: Mrs. Lauren Amundson
Description:
Does your child love exploring? Do they want to see what a day in the life of a Paleontologist is like? Come join, “Become a Paleontologist” and see what it takes to be a Paleontologist! We will explore the skill set it takes to become a Paleontologist while completing daily hands-on activities. Fossils, prehistoric life, excavating tools, and the fossilization process are just a few topics we will learn about during this summer session. By the end of the two week session, your child will have what it takes to be a Paleontologist!
Teacher Bio: Mrs. Lauren White Amundson is a Tuscaloosa native. She graduated from the University of Alabama in May of 2013 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She started her Capitol School journey in January of 2014 in the preschool working as a Montessori preschool aide. She has also co-taught K-1st grade. She is currently the lead teacher for the 7-9 year old cluster. Mrs. Amundson’s passion for education grew the moment she stepped into the classroom. This influenced her decision in taking the next step to complete her Masters of Education at the University of West Alabama in Dec. 2016, to add to her Alabama Elementary Education certification. Mrs. Amundson is excited to start her 8th summer teaching Summer Explorations and is looking forward to working with students and their families this summer.
