Description:
This class takes advantage of the phenomenon of film versions of literature by asking students to compare and contrast books with their movie counterparts. The process of comparing and contrasting teaches students to think critically about different forms of media presented to them.
Teacher Bio: Kiesha Washington Matthews has been an educator for over 20 years. Mrs. Matthews began her teaching career in Capitol Heights, Maryland. She currently teaches third grade at Moundville Elementary School in Hale County. She was a co-teacher and taught in 2004 at the Capitol School. Mrs. Matthews has a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and Psychology from Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She holds a Masters Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from the University of West Alabama. Mrs. Matthews has received several honors including the CBS 42/30 Excellent Teacher Grant, West Alabama’s Teacher Recognition Grant, Star Teaching Award, and was selected as Hale County Elementary Teacher
of the Year for 2013.

Note: This cost is for the registration fee only. You must pay the balance of the total camp cost by the first day of camp. Information will be provided in your receipt or you can pay here: SE2021 Summer Camp Balance. You should also receive an email a week prior to the start of camp with payment information. You may also pay in the office.
