Get ready to emerge in a classroom that is silent but full of communication! We will learn basic ASL during these two weeks through songs, games and play! We will learn the ASL Alphabet, how to fingerspell our names, simple ASL phrases/sentences, and each day we will focus on a new vocabulary theme! We will learn more about an Alabama hero, Helen Keller and her journey to becoming one of the most influential women in history. Get ready to have fun as we learn to talk with our hands and our heart!
Teacher Bio - Mrs. Tiffany Cross currently teaches first grade at Northport Elementary School. Her teaching career began in 2002 with preschool age children and has now taught both Kindergarten and First Grades. She earned her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education after her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development from The University of Alabama. Mrs. Cross was a co-teacher at the Capitol School in 2006. She and her husband John, have two school aged children, Trevor and Callie. Mrs. Cross began learning sign language in college, but her passion for teaching it to children began when her niece was born deaf. Her niece, Gracie, attends the School for the Deaf and Blind in Talladega.
Please fill out all information for each child's first registration. For additional registrations, you only have to complete the required information.
Note: This cost is for the registration fee only. You must pay the balance of the total camp cost by the first day of camp. Information will be provided in your receipt or you can pay here: SE2021 Summer Camp Balance. You should also receive an email a week prior to the start of camp with payment information. You may also pay in the office.
