Elizabeth Lester

Elizabeth is originally from Auburn, Alabama. She graduated with her undergraduate degree in English Literature in 2013 and her master’s in Women’s Studies in 2019. She has spent the past seven years working at the University of Alabama’s Camellia Center (formerly the Women and Gender Resource Center). Her favorite programs included leading and instructing a living/learning community for freshmen women in STEM, and a mentoring program that partnered with a local elementary school to encourage the qualities of leadership and connection in third through fifth grade children. 

Her goal is to create an academically rigorous environment that both challenges and uplifts her students, all while ensuring they are seen and treated as unique individuals with differing support and educational needs. Contributing to creating well-rounded scholars and human beings is the unique privilege of an educator that she most looks forward to. 

Elizabeth is very excited to become a member of The Capitol School and focus on the great passion she has for the English language and literature. She has already been lucky enough to engage with many of the students already studying in the upper school, and is looking forward to seeing them again, along with all the new students who are joining us for the 2026-2027 academic year.
