Calendar

August 30th, 2010

As an international school, we have many parent requests for longer holidays for families to travel. Our calendar has fewer isolated holidays and more long weekends (Sept. 3 & 6, Jan. 14 & 17, Feb. 18 & 21). We have 3 week-long holidays (Oct. 11 – 15, Nov. 22 – 26, and March 14 – 18). Winter break is December 20 – January 2, 2011. We do not take off school for the public school holiday on Veterans Day on Thursday, Nov 11. This calendar was determined by an online parent survey conducted in January, 2010.

With our extended school day, students at The Capitol School have the opportunity to be at school 40% more (520 hours) than schools on the 8:00 – 2:30 schedule. In addition, we offer 10 weeks of Summer Explorations.

Parents may choose which religious holidays their children observe. Please send a note to your child’s teacher to inform him/her of upcoming holidays when your child will not attend school or will have special needs while they are in school such as specific times for prayer or fasting.
